NBA Betting Pick and Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic

January 22, 2024

The red-hot and streaking Cleveland Cavaliers look for their eighth straight win overall as they get set to take on the Orlando Magic Monday night inside the Kia Center from Orlando, Florida. They tip it off at 7:00 pm in what should be a fun game to watch.  Bookmaker has installed the Magic as a slim 1.5-point favorite in this match-up.

Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Preview

The Cavaliers (25-15) have been on a tear of late, winning seven straight games and nine out of 11 overall as they have been able to push their record to ten games over .500 on the season. They are playing their best basketball as we are heading closer into the midway point of the season.

They can score with some of the better teams in the league and they have picked up their defensive effort during this run. On offense, they are led by shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging a team-high 27.8 points per game to go along with just under six rebounds and six assists per contest.

They also get some help from Darius Garland who has emerged as a serious scoring threat, netting 20.7 a night and he is also adding in just under six assists a night. He loves to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim and he is a very fearless player and scorer.

Overall, Cleveland connects on 56% from the floor, including a solid 37% from beyond the arc. They can be a streaky team at times but once they start knocking down shoots, look out. They can score in spurts. They are just 10-7 on the road this season.

Orlando Magic Betting Preview

The Magic (23-20) have struggled of late and they are in the midst of a bad slide. They have dropped some bad games because of their inconsistency on both ends of the floor. However, they were able to snap a two-game losing streak with a win over the Miami Heat Sunday night.

They need to get their primary scorers going against Cleveland, including 21-year-old forward Paolo Banchero who has been at times a force inside the paint.

He is averaging 22 a game to go along with seven rebounds a night. The Magic are a young team and they have some nice role players to build around the face of the franchise, but they need to do a better job of defending the interior and the perimeter. Small forward Franz Wagner is playing well too, as he adds in 20.9 a night and tries to take some of the pressure off of Banchero. They connect on close to 55% from the floor, including 34% from three-point land.

Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick

The Magic are 1-4 in their last five games and 2-3 in their last five games against the spread too. They are a solid 14-9 in their road games against the number and the totals have gone over just one time in their last five games and eight out of their last 19 games at home. The Cavaliers are a solid 5-0 in their last five games and a very impressive 4-1 in their last five games against the number, but just 9-7 in their road games against the spread.

Pick: Orlando Magic - 1.5
