NBA Betting Pick and Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

January 14, 2024

Two of the top teams in the Western Conference will square off against each other on Sunday evening when the Los Angeles Clippers travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 PM ET and will air on Bally Sports North and Bally Sports Southern California.

The Clippers have the 4th best record in the Western Conference with a record of 25-13 while having won eight of their last nine games and are on a three-game winning streak following a 128-119 win on the road against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday. This will be the 4th game in the last six games which could affect Los Angeles for the game against Minnesota.

The Clippers have won by nine points in two of their previous three games and the offense has been lights out as they are averaging 130.67 points per game during their win streak which has also improved their season average to 117.68 points per game which ranks 8th in the NBA. Defensively, Los Angeles has been above average as they are allowing an average of 111.95 points per game which is below the league average of 115.66 points per game.

Paul George has been one of the better players on the team as he enters this game leading the team in scoring with an average of 23.8 points per game. The Los Angeles Clippers will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they travel to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Minnesota is the top team in the Western Conference with a record of 27-11 and is coming off a 116-93 blowout win at home against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday. The Timberwolves are the best defensive team in the NBA as they are allowing an average of 107.37 points per game and have allowed under 100 points in three of their last five games. However, they are a below-average scoring team as they are averaging 113.21 points per game which is below the league average of 115.66 points per game.

Rudy Robert enters this game averaging a double-double with 13.1 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while also leading the team in blocks with an average of 2.05 blocks per game. The Minnesota Timberwolves will look to build off the momentum following the win against the Trail Blazers at home when they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday evening.

BookMaker has the Minnesota Timberwolves listed as 1-point favorites at home against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday evening. Los Angeles has won six of the last ten while Minnesota has won two of the previous three meetings. The teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Timberwolves have covered the spread in two of the previous three games in the series. The Los Angeles Clippers are 20-18 ATS overall, 9-9 ATS on the road, and 1-6 ATS as an underdog this season while the Minnesota Timberwolves are 19-17-2 ATS overall, 9-6-2 ATS at home, and 14-12-2 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Minnesota is the top team in the Western Conference while Los Angeles is one of the top teams in the conference as well. The Timberwolves have been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the previous three meetings while covering the spread in two of the three contests which is why I am taking the moneyline with the Minnesota Timberwolves at -120 when they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday evening.

Spooky Express Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves Moneyline (-120)
