NBA Betting Pick and Prediction: Sacramento Kings vs. Detroit Pistons

January 9, 2024

The Sacramento Kings will travel to Detroit, Michigan to face the Detroit Pistons at the Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday with the game tipping off at 7:00 PM ET and will air on Bally Sports Detroit.

Sacramento is one of the better teams in the Western Conference this season as they enter this game with the 5th-best record in the conference at 21-14, however, they are coming off a 100-133 loss at home against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday which also ended their two-game winning streak. The Kings have been one of the higher-scoring teams in the league as they enter this game averaging the 8th most points per game with an average of 117.74 points per game.

De’Aaron Fox has missed multiple games, however, he leads the team in scoring and is 2nd on the team in assists with an average of 28.3 points and 6 assists per game. Defensively, Sacramento has been a below-average team as they are allowing an average of 117.97 points per game which is more than the league average of 115.5 points per game. The Sacramento Kings will look to bounce back following the loss against the Pelicans at home when they travel to face the Detroit Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons are statistically the worst team in the NBA this season as they enter with the worst record in the NBA at 3-33 and are on a four-game losing streak following a 114-131 loss on the road against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The Pistons are allowing the 5th most points per game in the league with an average of 122.58 points allowed per game while also being the 6th lowest-scoring team in the NBA with an average of 111.47 points per game.

Cade Cunningham has been healthy all season after missing the majority of last year and leads the team in scoring and assists with an average of 22.8 points and 7.2 assists per game. The Detroit Pistons will look to end their four-game losing streak when they host the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday evening.

BookMaker has the Sacramento Kings listed as 8-point favorites on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday evening. Sacramento has won seven of the previous ten and two of the last three meetings. Both teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Pistons are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Sacramento Kings are 18-17 ATS overall, 9-6 ATS on the road, and 12-15 ATS as a favorite this season while the Detroit Pistons are 14-21-1 ATS overall, 5-10-1 ATS at home, and 14-18-1 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Sacramento is the superior team this season in terms of talent and has been the better team in the series, winning seven of the last ten and two of the previous three meetings. The Kings have also been the better team at covering the spread this season with a record of 18-17 ATS overall and 9-6 ATS on the road while the Pistons are 14-21-1 ATS overall, and 5-10-1 ATS at home which is why I am laying the points with the Sacramento Kings when they travel to face the Detroit Pistons.
