Dallas Mavericks Betting Preview
The Mavericks finished last year’s season with a 38-44 record and 11
th
in the Western Conference. They missed the playoffs, but have a good opportunity to hit the ground running this season.
Luca Doncic had a remarkable season, averaging 32.4 points per game and 8.6 rebounds. Even more impressive, he led the Mavs in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.
Even better, the Mavs acquired all-star point guard Kyrie Irving in the middle of last season through a trade. Irving averaged 27.0 points per game and 6.0 assists in his time with the Brooklyn Nets and Mavs. This should open the door for creativity on offense and allow Doncic to continue making plays.
As a whole, the Mavs averaged 114.2 points per game, which ranked 16
th
in the league. However, they allowed opposing teams to average 114.1, which was also 16
th
in league. They were essentially breaking even no matter what they accomplished on offense.
San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview
The Spurs capped off their previous season with a 22-60 record, which ranked last in the Western Conference alongside the Houston Rockets. In fact, they tied with them for second-worst team in the league.
Luckily for the Spurs, they were able to get the overall number-one pick in the NBA Draft. They decided to go with Victor Wembanyama, who happens to be a one in a generational type player that is over seven feet tall and can play any position.
The Spurs were led by Keldon Johnson in points last year, as he averaged 22.0 a game. However, they had 12 guys in total that averaged 10 points or more per game for them, making them unpredictable in who could potentially lead the offense each night.
They averaged 113.0 points per game last year, which was good enough for the 24
th
best in the league. But, they were ranked last in the league for the amount of points they allowed from opposing teams, at 123.1.
