Written By: Evan PerkinsThe Seattle Seahawks (1-0) take on the New England Patriots (1-0) for an excellent NFL betting opportunity on Sunday, September 15, at 1:00 PM ET at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Seahawks are road favorites, with a point spread currently set at -3.5 (-105).
The Seahawks recently defeated the Denver Broncos 26-20. This was a close game, but the Seahawks' offense shined while the Broncos were sloppy in critical moments.
Geno Smith had 18 of his passes completed out of 25 for 171 yards. He had a touchdown but also threw an interception. Kenneth Walker III moved the chains quite well with 20 carries for 103 yards and had a touchdown.
The Seahawks put up 304 yards and 19 first downs, but unfortunately, they turned the ball over twice. On defense, they allowed 231 yards and 13 first downs but were able to force three turnovers.
If the Seahawks can not turn the ball over and make the most of their possessions, they have an excellent opportunity to win against the Patriots. Smith nearly had a perfect game to push their offense, but they do not need to turn the ball over.
The Patriots surprised with a 16-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals with Jerod Mayo's debut as coach. They went into the half with a 10-0 lead and pulled out the win.
Jacoby Brissett could have played better but was consistently able to make passes. He completed 15 out of 24 passes for 121 yards. They had an aggressive run game with Rhamondre Stevenson, who had 25 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown.
The Patriots established just enough offense to take advantage of the Bengals' mistakes. They gained 290 yards and 17 first downs while allowing the Bengals to gain 224 yards and 13 first downs and forcing two turnovers.
They also had possession of the ball for about 34 minutes, which made the Bengals' mistakes even worse since they had less time to correct them. If they can grind down the clock, they have an opportunity to do the same against the Seahawks.
MyBookie has the NFL betting odds in the upcoming Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots showdown. The Seahawks are 3.5-point favorites, and according to market trends, they have a 55.6 percent chance of winning.
The Patriots did just enough to gain a win against a Bengals team that should have arguably won that game. Mistakes will kill a team if they do not have enough possessions to make it right. Look for the Seahawks to cover, as they have more experience as quarterbacks and a better squad overall.
