New York Giants vs. New York Jets

August 24, 2024

One final weekend of NFL preseason action continues as the New York Giants (1-1) face the New York Jets (2-0) on Saturday, August 24 at 7:30 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Giants are slightly favored with a point spread -1.0 (-105).

New York Giants Betting Preview

The Giants return to action after a 28-10 blowout defeat against the Houston Texans in week two of preseason games. Daniel Jones was back in the lineup for the first time after his ACL injury and threw two interceptions in the loss.

They had possession of the football for roughly 25 minutes of the game, which is not enough to get the offense going. This arguably gave the Texans too much time to work with since they dropped 14 points unanswered in the fourth quarter to seal the game.

The offense has been sluggish in these two preseason games, earning 24 points total. This equals 12.0 points a contest, which will need to be much higher here if they want to win.

On defense, their most extensive breakdown was against the Texans late in the fourth. They have allowed 31 points, or 15.5 points a game. If they can hold the Jets to around that average, they will have a chance to win.

New York Jets Betting Preview

The Jets have won their first two preseason games, but their performance has been shaky at best. Their latest matchup was a 15-12 win over the Carolina Panthers.

Many field goals were exchanged in that victory, so Adrian Martinez needed more excitement. He completed seven out of 17 passes, had 67 yards, and threw an interception. He must be more aggressive with this offense to get it moving.

So far, they have averaged 17.5 points per game and have accumulated 35 points. This is a steady output, but they leave points on the table in many of their drives.

The Jets have been solid on the defensive end, holding teams to 14.5 points each game and 29 points allowed overall. Getting stops and allowing field goals, at worst, could be another key to victory.

There are plenty of NFL preseason odds to consider through MyBookie, which offers appealing New York Giants vs. New York Jets odds. This matchup could go either way, hence the 1-point spread favoring the Giants.

Both teams are finalizing their roster and making adjustments for the upcoming season. The Giants look solid no matter what, but they come from a tough loss. Look for the Jets to close out strong at home.

NFL Pick: New York Jets +1.0 (-115)
