New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

May 28, 2024

The reeling Los Angeles Dodgers continue their road trip when they take on the struggling and underachieving New York Mets in what would be the second of a three-game set inside Citi Field in Queens, New York. They toss out the first pitch at 7:10 p.m. They postponed Monday's opener and will make it up on May 28th.

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview

The Dodgers have very high expectations, and nothing short of a trip into the NLCS would be considered a huge disappointment for them. They have been one of the most consistent and successful teams in all of baseball over the last five or so seasons, but because of their talent, payroll, and expectations, they have to make a deep run come October.

They have dropped five in a row after a solid four-game winning streak.

Watch out for the Dodgers to make a run in a loaded NL West division once they really start hitting. They have one of the most feared lineups in baseball.

DH Shohei Ohtani, who has already hit 13 home runs in his first month with his new team, leads them on offense. He is hitting.336 thus far, which is a career-high.

The Dodgers have not named a starter for Tuesday's contest.

New York Mets Betting Preview

The fans of the Mets are growing weary of their team's underperformance due to ongoing injuries. They invested a ton of money in their lineup and team, but they have not been able to turn that into wins on the field.

They have had issues with their lineup and manufacturing runs, and they have had a horrible time getting quality starts from their starting rotation. They did manage to secure a nice come-from-behind walk-off win against the San Francisco Giants, as they not only halted a five-game losing streak but also avoided a three-game sweep with a 4-3 win.

However, these types of victories have been scarce this season for a team that was expected to compete in the NL East, and once again, they are well on their way to missing the postseason. Their best player and slugging first baseman, Pete Alonso, who has already hammered xx Hoime runs this season, appears to be their only legit source of offense.

Although New York is only hitting.236 on the season, they have already smashed 56 home runs. This season, they have demonstrated a swing-for-the-fences approach and need to improve their ability to play small ball and advance to base.

They were going to send out Jose Quintana, who has struggled mightily, as he has posted a 1-4 record to go along with an ERA of 5.13. He last won on April 11th and has given up a ton of runs. Quintana doesn't seem likely to start due to the postponement of Monday's game, but this could change.
