NFL Betting Pick & Prediction: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

December 23, 2023

Two AFC North rivals will square off against each other on Saturday afternoon when the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium with the game kicking off at 4:30 PM ET and will air on NBC and the Peacock App.

The Cincinnati Bengals lost Joe Burrow in week 11 due to an injury and after Jake Browning struggled in his first start against the Steelers many wrote the Bengals off, however, Cincinnati enters this game on a three-game winning streak following a 27-24 win in overtime against the Minnesota Vikings and Jake Browning has improved tremendously over the past three games as he has completed 79 of 103 attempts for 953 yards and five touchdowns with 2 interceptions during the winning streak.

If the playoffs started today the Bengals would be the 6th seed as they enter this game with a record of 8-6 and are tied with the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills for the two final Wild Card spots in the AFC, however, they hold the tiebreakers over the other three teams. The Cincinnati Bengals will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they travel to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost three games in a row entering this matchup and two of the three losses have come against two of the worst teams in the NFL with a 10-24 loss at home against the Arizona Cardinals and an 18-21 loss at home against the New England Patriots.

The Steelers were up 13-0 against the Indianapolis Colts last week, however, the Steelers would allow 30 unanswered points and would not score any points after 14:07 left in the 2nd quarter. The offense for Pittsburgh continues to struggle this season as they have been one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league with an average of 15.93 points per game which is the 5th lowest average in the NFL.

The Steelers have also been one of the worst passing teams in the NFL as they are averaging the 5th lowest passing yards per game with an average of 177.07 passing yards per game. The Steelers will look to improve their record to above .500 and end their three-game losing streak when they host the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Cincinnati Bengals listed as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday afternoon in week 16 of the NFL season. Pittsburgh has won six of the last ten and two of the last three including a 16-10 win on the road earlier this season. The Bengals are 5-4-1 ATS in the last ten while the Steelers are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Cincinnati Bengals are 6-6-2 ATS overall, 3-3 ATS on the road, 4-3-2 ATS as a favorite, and 0-4 ATS in division games this season while the Pittsburgh Steelers are 7-7 ATS overall, 4-4 ATS at home, 4-4 ATS as an underdog, and 3-1 ATS in division games on the year.

Cincinnati enters this game with a better record, however, Pittsburgh has been the better team in the series, winning six of the last ten and two of the last three meetings. The Steelers have also been the better team at covering the spread most recently in the series, going 2-1 ATS in the last three matchups while also going 3-1 ATS in division games this season while the Bengals have not covered the spread in any of their divisional games with a record of 0-4 ATS in division games which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the Pittsburgh Steelers when they host the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday afternoon in week 16 of the NFL season.
