NFL Betting Preview: Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

January 7, 2024

A pair of NFC West rivals will battle each other on Sunday afternoon in week 18 of the NFL season when the Seattle Seahawks travel to Glendale, Arizona to face the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium with the game kicking off at 4:25 PM ET and will air on Fox.

Seattle saw their two-game win streak come to an end last week with a 23-30 loss at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers which dropped their record to 8-8 and put them in 3rd place in the NFC West. However, the Seahawks still have a chance to make the playoffs but will need to beat the Cardinals and have the Packers lose against the Bears to make the playoffs this season.

The Seahawks have been one of the worst defensive teams in the NFL this season as they are allowing an average of 23.88 points per game which ranks 24th in the league while also being a below-average team offensively as they are averaging 21.44 points per game which is below the league average of 21.96 points per game, however, they feature an above-average passing offense that is averaging 232.38 passing yards per game. Geno Smith has been inconsistent this season, however, he has been solid for the majority of the year as he enters this game having completed 307 of 471 attempts for 3,435 yards with 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for 127 yards and a touchdown. The Seattle Seahawks will look to bounce back following the loss against the Steelers and keep their playoff hopes alive when they travel to face the Arizona Cardinals.

The Arizona Cardinals have been one of the worst teams in the NFC this season as they enter this matchup with a record of 4-12 which ties them with the Commanders for the 2nd worst record in the conference, however, the Cardinals are coming off a 35-31 win on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 17 which also ended their two-game losing streak. The Cardinals have been one of the worst scoring defenses in the league this season as they are allowing an average of 27.13 points per game which is the 2nd most allowed in the NFL while also being one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league as they are averaging 19.38 points per game which ranks 24th in the NFL. The Arizona Cardinals will look to build off the momentum following the win against the Eagles when they host the Seattle Seahawks in week 18 of the NFL season.

BookMaker has the Seattle Seahawks listed as 3-point favorites on the road against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in week 18 of the NFL season. Seattle has won seven of the last ten including the previous four meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and covering the spread in four straight games in the series. The Seattle Seahawks are 8-6-2 ATS overall, 5-2-1 ATS on the road, 3-3-2 ATS as a favorite, and 3-2 ATS in division games this season while the Arizona Cardinals are 8-8 ATS overall, 4-3 ATS at home, 8-8 ATS as an underdog, and 0-5 ATS in division games on the year.

Seattle enters this game with a better record and has been the better team in the series, winning seven of the last ten including the previous four meetings. The Seahawks are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and have covered the spread in four straight meetings against the Cardinals while Arizona has not covered the spread in any of their division games this season with a record of 0-5 ATS in division games. As a result, I am laying the points with the Seattle Seahawks when they travel to face the Arizona Cardinals in week 18 of the NFL season.
