NFL Betting Preview: Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets

December 3, 2023

The Atlanta Falcons will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey to face the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in week 13 of the NFL season with the game scheduled to start at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon and will air on Fox.

Even though Atlanta enters this game below .500 with a record of 5-6, they are tied for 1st place with the New Orleans Saints for 1st place in the NFC South following last week’s 24-15 win at home against the Saints which also ended their three-game losing streak.

The Falcons have been a below-average scoring team this season as they enter this game averaging 19.36 points per game, however, Bijan Robinson and the rushing offense have been one of the best in the NFL as they enter this game averaging the 4th most rushing yards per game. Robinson can be attributed to the success the Falcons have had in the running game as he enters this game leading the team in rushing with 703 rushing yards and three touchdowns while adding 32 receptions for 240 yards and three touchdowns.

The New York Jets looked like they may be competitive even with the Aaron Rodgers injury as they started the season 3-3, however, since that start they have lost four games in a row including last week’s 13-34 loss at home against the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets have one of the worst offenses in the league as they are averaging the 3rd fewest points per game with an average of 14.82 points per game and Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle have struggled as starting quarterbacks as they have combined to have completed 224 of 373 attempts for 2,156 yards with seven touchdowns and ten interceptions and the Jets rank 31st in passing yards per game with an average of 166.82 passing yards per game. They will look to end their four-game losing streak when they host the Atlanta Falcons in week 13 of the NFL season.

BookMaker has the Atlanta Falcons listed as 3-point favorites on the road against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon in week 13 of the NFL season. Atlanta has won five of the last seven and two of the last three meetings.

The Falcons are 4-3 ATS in the last seven while the Jets are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Atlanta Falcons are 3-8 ATS overall, 1-3 ATS on the road, and 1-6 ATS as a favorite this season while the New York Jets are 4-6-1 ATS overall, 3-3 ATS at home, and 4-5 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Atlanta enters this game with a better record and has been the better team in the series, winning five of the last seven and two of the last three games. The Jets have been one of the worst scoring teams in the NFL as they rank 30th in points per game and have only averaged 9.25 points per game during their four-game losing streak. I look for the Falcons to get the win on the road which is why I am taking the moneyline for the Atlanta Falcons at -146 when they travel to face the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon.
