NFL Betting Preview: Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals

September 17, 2023

This matchup features two AFC North Division Rivals and arguably the two best teams in the division as the Baltimore Ravens travel to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in week 2 of the NFL season. Baltimore won in week 1 at home against the Houston Texans by a score of 25-9 while the Bengals lost on the road against the Cleveland Browns by a score of 3-24.

Will the Ravens improve to 2-0 or will the Bengals bounce back from their week 1 loss? Let’s take a closer look at how these teams are faring this season.

The Baltimore Ravens won in week 1 at home against the Houston Texans by a score of 25-9 while also covering the 9.5-point spread as a home favorite. The Ravens scored 25 points while compiling 265 total yards which included 169 passing yards and 110 rushing yards while allowing 9 points and 268 total yards defensively which included 242 passing yards and 72 rushing yards.

Lamar Jackson led the team in passing, completing 17 of 22 attempts for 169 yards and an interception while also leading the team in rushing with 38 rushing yards on six attempts. Zay Flowers led the team in receiving, catching nine of ten targets for 78 yards.

Cincinnati is 0-1 this season following a loss on the road against the Cleveland Browns by a score of 3-24 while also failing to cover the 1.5-point spread as a road favorite in week 1 of the NFL season. The Bengals scored 3 points while compiling a total of 142 total yards offensively which included 82 passing yards and 75 rushing yards while allowing 24 points and 350 total yards defensively which included 154 passing yards and 206 rushing yards.

Joe Burrow led the team in passing, completing 14 of 31 attempts for 82 yards. Joe Mixon led the team in rushing with 13 carries for 56 yards while adding three receptions for 17 yards. Jamar Chase led the team in receiving, catching five of nine targets for 39 yards.

BookMaker has the Cincinnati Bengals listed as 3-point favorites at home against the Baltimore Ravens in week 2 of the NFL season on Sunday. Baltimore has won six of the last ten games in the series while winning by an average score of 25.1 to 20.7 in those matchups while Cincinnati has won two of the last three games by an average score of 22.67 to 17.33 in those contests.

The Ravens are 1-0 ATS overall this season after finishing last season with a record of 8-9-1 ATS overall, 7-3 ATS on the road, 4-1-1 ATS as an underdog, and 3-4 ATS in division games.

Cincinnati is the more talented team this season despite their performance in week 1 and has been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the last three games while going 2-1 ATS in those matchups. I look for the Bengals to bounce back in a big way in week 2 at home against the Baltimore Ravens which is why I am taking the Cincinnati Bengals -3 on BookMaker for this matchup on Sunday afternoon.
