NFL Betting Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals

November 5, 2023

NBC’s Sunday Night football game in week 9 will feature the Buffalo Bills traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 8:20 PM ET on Sunday night.

The Buffalo Bills enter this game with a record of 5-3 following a 24-18 win at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while failing to cover the 10-point spread as a home favorite in week 8 of the NFL season. Buffalo scored 24 points while compiling a total of 427 yards offensively which included 324 passing yards and 115 rushing yards while allowing 18 points and 302 total yards defensively which included 237 passing yards and 78 rushing yards.

Josh Allen led the team in passing, completing 31 of 40 attempts for 324 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while adding 41 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven attempts. James Cook led the team in rushing with 14 carries for 67 yards while adding a reception for six yards. Khalil Shakir led the team in receiving, catching all six targets for 92 yards.

Cincinnati enters this game with a record of 4-3  and is on a three-game winning streak following a 31-17 win on the road against the San Francisco 49ers while covering the 4.5-point spread as a road underdog by winning the game outright in week 8 of the NFL season. The Bengals scored 31 points while compiling a total of 400 yards offensively which included 283 passing yards and 134 rushing yards while allowing 17 points and 460 total yards defensively which included 365 passing yards and 113 rushing yards.

Joe Burrow led the team in passing, completing 28 of 32 attempts for 283 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 43 yards on six attempts. Joe Mixon led the team in rushing with 16 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for 23 yards. Ja’Marr Chase led the team in receiving, catching 10 of 12 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown.

BookMaker has the Cincinnati Bengals listed as 2-point favorites at home against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night in week 9 of the NFL season. The teams have split the last ten games in the series going 5-5 while Cincinnati has won two of the last three contests.

Both teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Bengals are 3-0 ATS in the last three meetings. The Buffalo Bills are 3-5 ATS overall and 1-2 ATS on the road this season while the Cincinnati Bengals are 3-3-1 ATS overall, 1-1-1 ATS at home, and 2-2-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Last year’s regular season matchup will always remain in the memories of those who watched the game, thankfully, Damar Hamlin has fully recovered from last year’s horrific incident. The Bengals have been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the previous three meetings while going 3-0 ATS in those contests.

The Bills have struggled to cover the spread on the road this season as they are 1-2 ATS on the road. I look for the Bengals to win this matchup and cover the 2-point spread which is why I am laying the points with the Cincinnati Bengals at home when they host the Buffalo Bills.
