NFL Betting Preview: Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets

November 19, 2023

A pair of AFC East rivals will face each other in the game of the week on CBS when the New York Jets travel to Orchard Park, New York to face the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium in week 11 of the NFL season with the game scheduled to start at 4:25 PM ET on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Jets enter this game on a two-game losing streak following a 12-16 loss on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday night and their offense continues to struggle this season as they have averaged 9 points per game during their losing streak which has brought down their season average to 16 points per game which is the 3rd fewest points per game average in the NFL, however, their defense continues to be a strength and one of the main reasons they have had close games this season as they are allowing the 7th fewest points per game in the league with an average of 19.11 points per game. Zach Wilson continues to be an inconsistent quarterback in his 3rd season in the NFL as he has completed 183 of 306 attempts for 1,863 yards with five touchdowns and six interceptions.

Buffalo has been one of the best teams in the NFL over the past few seasons, however, they have struggled on offense during their two-game losing streak as they are averaging 20 points per game which resulted in Ken Dorsey being fired as the Offensive Coordinator earlier this week and was replaced by Joe Brady who has served as the quarterbacks coach for the Bills since 2022. Despite only averaging 20 points per game during their two-game losing streak, the Buffalo Bills remain one of the highest-scoring teams in the NFL as they rank 8th in the league with an average of 26.2 points per game. However, even though Josh Allen has put up good numbers, he has struggled to protect the ball this season as he has thrown 11 interceptions this year which is on pace for the most interceptions he has thrown in a season and will be going up against a team with one of the best secondaries in the NFL this season and one in which he threw three interceptions against earlier this season.

BookMaker has the Buffalo Bills listed as 7-point favorites at home against the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon in week 11 of the NFL season. Buffalo has won six of the last ten while New York has won two of the last three meetings. The Jets are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and have covered the spread in three straight games in the series. The New York Jets are 4-4-1 ATS overall, 1-2-1 ATS on the road, 4-3 ATS as an underdog, and 1-1 ATS in division games this season while the Buffalo Bills are 3-7 ATS overall, 2-3 ATS at home, 3-6 ATS as a favorite, and 1-2 ATS in division games on the year.

Buffalo has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the NFL this season and has been one of the worst teams at covering the spread going 3-7 ATS overall and 3-6 ATS as a favorite while also struggling to cover the spread in the series as they have failed to cover the spread in the last three matchups. I look for that trend to continue on Sunday afternoon which is why I am taking the points with the New York Jets when they face the Buffalo Bills in week 11 of the NFL season.
