NFL Betting Preview: Carolina Panthers vs. Chicago Bears

November 9, 2023

Week 10 of the NFL season will kick off on Thursday night when the Carolina Panthers travel to Chicago, Illinois to face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field with the game scheduled to start at 8:15 PM ET and airing on Amazon Prime.

The Carolina Panthers almost won the NFC South last season, however, they aren’t in contention this season as they enter this game tied with the Arizona Cardinals for the worst record in the NFL. Carolina had the first pick of the 2023 NFL Draft and Bryce Young has been inconsistent this season as he has completed 161 of 252 attempts for 1,375 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions with a quarterback rating of 77.1. The Offense for the Panthers as a whole hasn’t looked great either as they are currently 26th in the NFL in points per game with an average of 17.5 points and are 27th in the NFL in passing yards per game with an average of 187.13 passing yards per game. The Panthers also don’t have a 1st round pick as they traded away their 1st round pick to the Chicago Bears which means they aren’t likely to be a competitive team for a while.

Chicago would like nothing more than to defeat the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night as they own the 1st round pick of the Carolina Panthers who are also tied for the worst record in the NFL. The Bears have also struggled this season as they enter this game with a record of 2-7 and are tied with the New York Giants and New England Patriots for the 3rd worst record in the NFL which means the Bears could realistically have two top 5 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft. The season is likely lost this year and the Chicago Bears will be looking to see if Justin Fields is the answer at quarterback or if they will use one of their early picks in the 1st round on a quarterback like Caleb Williams or Drake May. The Bears are on a two-game losing streak following a 17-24 loss on the road against the New Orleans Saints while covering the 9-point spread as a road underdog.

BookMaker has the Chicago Bears listed as 4-point favorites at home against the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night in week 10 of the NFL season. Chicago has won six of the last ten and two of the last three meetings. The Panthers are 5-4-1 ATS in the last ten while the Bears are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Carolina Panthers are 1-6-1 ATS overall, 0-4 ATS on the road, and 1-6-1 ATS as an underdog this season while the Chicago Bears are 3-5-1 ATS overall, 1-2-1 ATS at home and 0-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

The Carolina Panthers not only have one of the worst records in the NFL, but they have also been one of the worst teams at covering the spread this season going 1-6-1 ATS overall, and have not covered the spread on the road going 0-4 ATS on the road. The Bears have been the better team in the series, winning six of the last ten and two of the last three games while going 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings. Lay the points with the Chicago Bears when they host the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night.
