NFL Betting Preview: Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions
November 19, 2023
A pair of NFC North rivals will face each other on Sunday afternoon in week 11 of the NFL season when the Chicago Bears travel to Detroit, Michigan to face the Detroit Lions at Ford Field with the game scheduled to kick off at 1:00 PM ET.
The Chicago Bears are one of the worst teams in the NFC this season and enter this game with a record of 3-7 which puts them in last place in the NFC North, however, they were able to end their two-game losing streak with a win at home against the Carolina Panthers by a score of 16-13. The offense has not been there at all for the Bears this season as they enter this game averaging 20.4 points per game which is below the league average of 20.4 points per game. Chicago may get Justin Fields back this week after missing the previous four games with a thumb injury and the fans of the Bears are hoping he can come back as Tyson Bagent hasn’t looked like an NFL starting quarterback as he has completed 94 of 143 attempts for 859 yards with three touchdowns and six interceptions and things won’t be any easier this week when the Bears travel to face the Lions.
Detroit continues to look like one of the most complete teams in the NFL and even when one part of their game struggles like their defense did this week, their offense can pick up the slack as evidenced by their win last week on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 41-38 which improved their record to 7-2 which puts them in 1
st
place in the NFC North and gives them the 2
nd
best record in the NFC this season. The offense for the Lions has been among the best in the NFL this season as they enter this game averaging the 6
th
most points per game in the league with an average of 26.78 points per game with their running offense being one of the best in the NFL as they are averaging the 4
th
most rushing yards per game with an average of 139 rushing yards thanks to one of the best duos at running back in the NFL in David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery and Gibbs have combined for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns on 196 attempts this season.
BookMaker has the Detroit Lions listed as 10-point favorites
at home against the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon in week 11 of the NFL season. Chicago has won seven of the last ten while Detroit has won two of the last three meetings. Both teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Lions are 3-0 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Chicago Bears are 3-5-2 ATS overall, 2-3 ATS on the road, 3-4-1 ATS as an underdog, and 0-2 ATS in division games this season while the Detroit Lions are 7-2 ATS overall, 3-1 ATS at home, 6-1 ATS as a favorite, and 1-0 ATS in division games on the year.
Detroit is the more talented team and has been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the previous three meetings while going 3-0 ATS in those contests. The Lions have not only been one of the best teams in the NFL but they have been one of the best teams at covering the spread going 7-2 ATS overall and are 6-1 ATS as a favorite which is why I am laying the points with the Detroit Lions when they host the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon.
Spooky Express Pick: Detroit Lions -10
