NFL Betting Preview: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Indianapolis Colts

December 10, 2023

The Indianapolis Colts will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium with the game scheduled to start at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon and will air on CBS in week 14 of the NFL season.

Indianapolis is tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Houston Texans for the three Wild Card spots in the AFC as they enter this game with a record of 7-5 and are on a four-game winning streak following last week’s 31-28 win on the road against the Tennessee Titans. The Colts have been one of the highest-scoring teams in the league as they enter this game averaging 25 points per game which ranks 8th in the NFL and their passing game has played a pivotal role in the success the offense is having this season. Gardner Minshew leads the team in passing as he enters this game having completed 213 of 339 attempts for 2,284 yards with ten touchdowns and seven interceptions while Michael Pittman has been the main beneficiary of the passing offense as he leads the team in receiving with 87 receptions for 889 yards and four touchdowns. The Indianapolis Colts will look to extend their winning streak to five games when they travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals.

Jake Browning started his 2nd game in his NFL career for the Cincinnati Bengals and played phenomenally as he led the team to a 34-31 win in overtime on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars which ended their three-game losing streak. Browning completed 32 of 37 attempts for 354 yards with a touchdown in the win while Joe Mixon had his best game this season as he ran for 68 yards and two touchdowns. The win has improved the record for the Bengals to 6-6, however, they are one game behind the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card race.

Cincinnati has been a below-average scoring team this season as they are averaging 20.5 points per game which is below the league average of 21.74 points per game and their running game has been a major concern all season for Cincinnati as they rank last in rushing yards per game in the NFL with an average of 82.5 rushing yards per game. The Cincinnati Bengals will look to build off the momentum following the win on Monday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars when they host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Indianapolis Colts listed as 1-point favorites on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon in week 14 of the NFL season. Indianapolis has won six of the last ten while Cincinnati has won two of the last three meetings. Both teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Bengals are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Indianapolis Colts are 8-4 ATS overall, 4-1 ATS on the road, and 4-0 ATS as a favorite this season while the Cincinnati Bengals are 5-6-1 ATS overall, 2-3-1 ATS at home, and 2-2 ATS as an underdog on the year.

The Indianapolis Colts have been the better team this season and in the series, winning six of the last ten. The Colts are on a four-game winning streak and have been the better team at covering the spread this season as they are 8-4 ATS overall and 4-1 ATS on the road while the Bengals are 5-6-1 ATS overall and 2-3-1 ATS at home which is why I am laying the point with the Indianapolis Colts when they travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals in week 14 of the NFL season.
