NFL Betting Preview: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams

September 25, 2023

The Los Angeles Rams have played above expectations to start the season after a rough season last year, Los Angeles is 1-1 to start the year. Cincinnati on the other hand has gotten off to a rough start at 0-2 and could be without star quarterback, Joe Burrow, on Monday night when they face the Rams which would put them in danger of dropping to 0-3 to start the season and would cause them to face an uphill battle the rest of the season. Will the Bengals get their first win of the season or will the Rams get the win on the road? Let’s take a closer look at how these teams are faring this season.

The Los Angeles Rams enter this game with a record of 1-1 following a 23-30 loss at home against the San Francisco 49ers while the game ended in a push in week 2 of the NFL season. Los Angeles scored 23 points while compiling 386 total yards offensively which included 307 passing yards and 89 rushing yards while allowing 30 points and 365 total yards defensively which included 206 passing yards and 159 rushing yards. Matthew Stafford led the team in passing, completing 34 of 55 attempts for 307 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions while rushing for 17 yards. Kyren Williams led the team in rushing with 14 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown while adding six receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown. Puka Nacua led the team in receiving, catching 15 of 20 targets for 147 yards.

Cincinnati enters this game with a record of 0-2 following a 24-27 loss at home against the Baltimore Ravens while failing to cover the 3.5-point spread as a home favorite in week 2 of the NFL season. The Bengals scored 24 points while compiling 282 total yards offensively which included 222 passing yards and 66 rushing yards while allowing 27 points and 415 total yards defensively which included 237 passing yards and 178 rushing yards. Joe Burrow led the team in passing, completing 27 of 41 attempts for 222 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Joe Mixon led the team in rushing with 13 carries for 59 yards. Tee Higgins led the team in receiving, catching eight of 12 targets for 89 yards and two touchdowns.

BookMaker has the Cincinnati Bengals listed as 2.5-point favorites at home against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday in week 3 of the NFL season. Los Angeles has won five of the last eight and two of the last three matchups while going 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight games in the series. Los Angeles is 1-0-1 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS on the road, and 1-0-1 ATS as an underdog this season while the Cincinnati Bengals are 0-2 ATS overall, 0-1 ATS at home, and 0-2 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Cincinnati is the more talented team with Joe Burrow, however, there is still uncertainty as to whether or not Burrow will play on Monday night. Los Angeles has been the better team in the series, winning five of the last eight and two of the last three matchups. The Rams are 5-2-1 ATS in the last eight games in the series. Los Angeles has also been the better team this season at covering the spread going 1-0-1 ATS overall while the Bengals have not covered the spread this season as they are 0-2 ATS overall. I look for those trends to continue in this matchup which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the Los Angeles Rams +3 on Monday night in week 3 of the NFL season on BookMaker.
