NFL Betting Preview: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Minnesota Vikings

December 16, 2023

The Minnesota Vikings will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bengals at the Paycor Stadium in week 15 of the NFL season with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on Saturday afternoon and will air on the NFL Network.

Minnesota ended their two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders in week 14 of the NFL season. However, Joshua Dobbs struggled in the win as he completed 10 of 23 attempts for 63 yards which led to him being benched and being replaced by Nick Mullens who completed nine of 13 attempts for 83 yards. Mullens is likely the starter going forward given the struggles over the last three games for Dobbs. The Vikings are 7-6 this season and are in the playoff picture as they would be the 6th seed in the NFC and trail the Detroit Lions by two games for 1st place in the NFC North. Minnesota has been a below-average scoring team as they are averaging 20.46 points per game which ranks 21st in the NFL, however, they have one of the best scoring defenses as they are allowing an average of 18.62 points per game which ranks 5th in the NFL. The Vikings will look to build off the momentum following a 3-0 win at Las Vegas Raiders when they travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals.

Despite not having Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals have won two of their last three games without Burrow and are on a two-game winning streak following a 34-14 win at home against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Jake Browning has played well in the last two games as he has completed 50 of 61 attempts for 629 yards with three touchdowns and an interception during that time. Cincinnati is tied with the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills for the three Wild Card spots in the AFC with a record of 7-6 overall. The Bengals have been a below-average scoring team this season as they are averaging 21.54 points per game which is below the league average of 21.68 points per game and have been one of the worst rushing teams in the league as they are averaging 84.69 points per game which is the 2nd lowest average in the NFL. The Cincinnati Bengals will look to extend their winning streak to three games when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Cincinnati Bengals listed as 3.5-point favorites at home against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon in week 15 of the NFL season. Cincinnati has won four of the last seven and two of the last three meetings while going 4-3 ATS in the last seven and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Minnesota Vikings are 7-4-2 ATS overall, 5-0-2 ATS on the road, and 4-1-1 ATS as an underdog this season while the Cincinnati Bengals are 6-6-1 ATS overall, 3-3-1 ATS at home, and 4-3-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Both teams enter this game with a record of 7-6, however, Cincinnati has been the better team in the series, winning four of the last seven and two of the last three meetings. The Bengals are 4-3 ATS in the last seven and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series which is why I am buying the .5 point and laying the points with the Cincinnati Bengals when they host the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon in week 15 of the NFL season.
