NFL Betting Preview: Denver Broncos vs. Houston Texans

December 3, 2023

The Denver Broncos will travel to Houston, Texas to face the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon in week 13 of the NFL season, and the game will air on CBS.

Denver has been one of the hottest teams in the NFL entering this game after starting the season off 1-5, the Broncos have gone on a five-game winning streak which includes a 29-12 win at home against the Cleveland Browns last week. The defense can be attributed to the success the Broncos have had during their winning streak as they have allowed an average of 14 points per game during the streak which has improved their defensive scoring average to 25.45 points per game, however, that is still the 4th most points allowed per game in the NFL. The Broncos will be looking to extend their winning streak to six games when they face the up-and-coming Houston Texans on the road on Sunday afternoon.

The Houston Texans saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday with a 21-24 loss at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, however, they are still above .500 with a record of 6-5 and are in 3rd place in the AFC South behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts, who they lost to earlier this season, and have the early frontrunner for Rookie of the Year in C.J. Stroud.

Stroud enters this game having completed 249 of 391 attempts for 3,266 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions which is also the 2nd most passing yards in the league, only behind Sam Howell. The defense has also been above average this season as they are allowing an average of 21.09 points per game. The Texans will look to bounce back following the loss against the Jaguars when they host the Denver Broncos in week 13 of the NFL season.

BookMaker has the Houston Texans listed as 3.5-point favorites at home against the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon in week 13 of the NFL season. Denver has won six of the nine games all-time and two of the last three meetings. The Broncos are 5-4 ATS all-time while the Texans are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series.

The Denver Broncos are 4-6-1 ATS overall, 1-2-1 ATS on the road, and 2-2 ATS as an underdog this season while the Houston Texans are 5-6 ATS overall, 2-4 ATS at home, and 0-4 ATS as a favorite this season.

Both teams are above .500 this season and are in the playoff hunt in the AFC, however, Denver enters this game on a five-game winning streak with impressive wins over the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, and Kansas City Chiefs during their win streak. The Broncos are also 4-1 ATS during the win streak which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the Denver Broncos when they travel to face the Houston Texans in week 13 of the NFL season.
