NFL Betting Preview: Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs

December 3, 2023

NBC’s Sunday Night Football game this week will feature the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to Green Bay, Wisconsin to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field with kick-off scheduled for 8:20 PM ET in week 13 of the NFL season and the game will air on NBC and the Peacock App.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in 1st place in the AFC West with a record of 8-3, however, they are .500 over their last four games which includes a 31-17 win on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders in week 12. Despite having the best quarterback in the NFL, the offense for the Chiefs has not looked as explosive this season as it has in previous seasons; they are averaging 23.27 points per game this season which ranks 11th in the NFL, however, they are averaging the 7th most passing yards per game in the league with an average of 258.55 passing yards per game.

Patrick Mahomes has not looked as sharp this season as he enters this game having completed 280 of 411 attempts for 2,917 yards with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The defense has played a major role in the success the Chiefs have had this season as they are allowing the 3rd fewest points per game in the league with an average of 16.45 points per game.

The Chiefs will look to build momentum following last week’s win when they travel to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

The Green Bay Packers have won three of their last four games and are on a two-game winning streak following a 29-22 win on the road against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving, however, they are still one game below .500 and are in 3rd place in the NFC North with a record of 5-6. Jordan Love has played a pivotal role in the success the Packers have had over their last four games as he has completed 80 of 138 attempts for 1,107 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Packers also have one of the best scoring defenses in the NFL as they are allowing an average of 20.36 points per game which is the 10th fewest points per game in the league. However, the Packers have a slightly below-average scoring offense as they are averaging 21 points per game which is below the league average of 21.59 points per game. The Packers will be going for their 3rd win in a row when they host the Kansas City Chiefs in week 13 of the NFL season.

BookMaker has the Kansas City Chiefs listed as 6-point favorites on the road against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night in week 13 of the NFL season. Kansas City has won four of the last seven while Green Bay has won two of the last three meetings. The Packers are 4-3 ATS in the last seven and 3-0 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Kansas City Chiefs are 7-4 ATS overall, 3-2 ATS on the road, and 7-4 ATS as a favorite this season while the Green Bay Packers are 6-5 ATS overall, 3-2 ATS at home, and 5-4 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Kansas City is the better team this season, however, Green Bay has been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the last three games. The Packers have also been the better team at covering the spread in the series as they are 4-3 ATS in the last seven and have covered the spread in the previous three matchups. I look for those trends to continue which is why I am taking the points with the Green Bay Packers when they host the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
