NFL Betting Preview: Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

November 12, 2023

Two teams with rich NFL histories will face each other in week 10 of the NFL season when the Green Bay Packers travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to face the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium with the game starting at 1:00 PM ET and airing regionally on CBS.

The Green Bay Packers finally ended their four-game losing streak last week with an impressive 20-3 win at home against the Los Angeles Rams, however, they are still two games under .500 with a record of 3-5 which puts them in 3rd place in the NFC North and 2 games behind the Minnesota Vikings for the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. The Packers have had a rich history of quarterbacks with the two most recent being Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, however, Jordan Love has not looked like either of those quarterbacks in his first full season as the starting quarterback for the Packers. Jordan Love has completed 155 of 260 yards for 1,720 yards with 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions and the offense for the Packers has struggled this season as they rank in the bottom half of the NFL with an average of 20 points per game this season.

Mike Tomlin has not had a losing season as head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers and has had a good start to this season as the Steelers enter this game with a record of 5-3 and are in a three-way tie with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns for 2nd place in the AFC North and if the playoffs started today they would be in as the 5 seed in the AFC. The defense has been the reason for their success as they rank 13th in the league in points allowed per game with an average of 20.38 points, however, offensively they have been dreadful as they rank 29th in points per game with an average of 16.63 points per game and have been one of the worst passing teams in the league as they rank 25th in passing yards with an average of 188 passing yards per game.

BookMaker has the Pittsburgh Steelers listed as 3.5-point favorites at home against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon in week 10 of the NFL season. Pittsburgh has won five of the last eight and two of the last three meetings. The Packers are 5-3 ATS in the last eight and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Green Bay Packers are 4-4 ATS overall, 2-2 ATS on the road, and 3-3 ATS as an underdog while the Pittsburgh Steelers are 5-3 ATS overall, 3-2 ATS at home, and 1-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Pittsburgh enters this game with the better record and has been the better team in the series, winning five of the last eight and two of the last three meetings. However, the Packers have been the better team in the series at covering the spread going 5-3 ATS in the last eight and 2-1 ATS in the last three matchups which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the Green Bay Packers when they travel to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
