NFL Betting Preview: Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

December 17, 2023

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in week 15 of the NFL season with the game kicking off at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon and will air on CBS.

Tampa Bay enters this game tied for 1st place in the NFC South with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons with a record of 6-7 and are on a two-game winning streak following Sunday’s 29-25 win at home against the Atlanta Falcons. The Buccaneers have won both games during their winning streak by a total of 7 points and one of the wins came against the team with the worst record in the NFL, the Carolina Panthers, by a score of 21-18.

Tampa Bay has had an above-average scoring defense this season as they are allowing an average of 20.77 points per game which ranks 13th in the league. However, they are one of the lowest-scoring teams and have one of the worst rushing offenses in the league as they are averaging 90 rushing yards per game while averaging 20.15 points per game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will look to extend their winning streak to three games when they travel to face their old NFC Central Division rival, the Green Bay Packers, in week 15 of the NFL season.

The Green Bay Packers looked like they were on their way to their 4th win in a row following a touchdown pass from Jordan Love to Malik Heath with 1:33 left in the game to take the 22-21 win, however, they allowed a 32 yards pass from Tommy DeVito to Wan’Dale Robinson which allowed the Giants to get into field goal range and to kick the game-winning field goal, which Randy Bullock did with 2 seconds left in the game. The loss ended the three-game winning streak for the Packers, however, they would be in the playoffs as the 7th seed in the NFC if the playoffs started today. The Packers have been a below-average scoring team as they are averaging 21.54 points per game which is below the 21.71 league average while they have had an above-average scoring defense that is allowing the 11th fewest points per game with an average of 20.54 points per game. The Packers will look to bounce back following the loss against the Giants when they host the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Green Bay Packers listed as 3.5-point favorites at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon in week 15 of the NFL season. The teams are 5-5 in the last ten while Tampa Bay has won two of the last three meetings.

The teams are 5-5 ATS in the last ten while the Buccaneers are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 8-5 ATS overall, 6-1 ATS on the road, and 6-3 ATS as an underdog this season while the Green Bay Packers are 7-6 ATS overall, 4-2 ATS at home, and 1-1 ATS as a favorite on the year.

Both teams enter this game with identical records of 6-7, however, Tampa Bay has been the better team most recently in the series, winning two of the last three meetings while going 2-1 ATS in those contests. The Buccaneers have also been one of the best teams at covering the spread on the road this season as they are 6-1 ATS on the road which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the points with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
