January 6, 2024

Two AFC South division rivals will square off against each other on Saturday night when the Houston Texans travel to Indianapolis, Indiana to face the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium with the game kicking off at 8:15 PM ET and will air on ABC and ESPN.

The Houston Texans can win the AFC South with a win and a Jacksonville Jaguars loss as they enter this game with a record of 9-7 and are coming off a 26-3 win at home against the Tennessee Titans in week 17 of the NFL season which also puts them in 3rd place in the AFC South. C.J. Stroud is the odds-on favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year as he enters this game leading the team in passing completing 299 of 473 attempts for 3,844 yards with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

The Texans have one of the best passing offenses in the league as they enter this game averaging 245.44 passing yards per game which ranks 7th in the NFL while also being an above-average scoring team as they enter this game averaging 22.13 points per game. Houston also has an above-average scoring defense as they enter this game allowing an average of 20.88 points per game which ranks 13th in the NFL. The Houston Texans will look to build momentum following the win against the Titans when they travel to face the Indianapolis Colts.

Indianapolis is in 2nd place in the AFC South with a record of 9-7 and is coming off a 23-20 win at home against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The Colts can clinch a spot in the AFC Playoffs with a win and can win the AFC South with a win and a Jaguars loss or tie. The Colts have been an above-average team on offense as they enter this game averaging 23.56 points per game. Gardner Minshew has had a solid season as the starter for the Indianapolis Colts as he enters this game having completed 292 of 466 attempts for 3,164 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for 91 yards and three touchdowns.

However, the Colts have been one of the worst scoring defenses in the NFL as they are allowing the 6th most points per game with an average of 24.5 points per game. The Indianapolis Colts will look to clinch a spot in the AFC playoffs with a win at home against the Houston Texans on Saturday night.

BookMaker has the Houston Texans listed as 1.5-point favorites on the road against the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night in week 18 of the NFL season. Indianapolis is 7-2-1 in the last ten while both teams are 1-1-1 in the last three games in the series. The Colts are 7-3 ATS in the last ten while the Texans are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Houston Texans are 8-8 ATS overall, 4-3 ATS on the road, 2-5 ATS as a favorite, and 3-2 ATS in division games this season while the Indianapolis Colts are 9-7 ATS overall, 4-4 ATS at home, 4-6 ATS as an underdog, and 3-2 ATS in division games on the year.

Both teams enter this game with an identical record of 9-7, however, Indianapolis has been the better team overall in the last ten meetings going 7-2-1 ATS in the last ten games in the series. The Colts have also been the better team at covering the spread this season as they are 9-7 ATS overall while the Texans are 8-8 ATS overall. As a result, I am buying the .5 point and laying the point with the Indianapolis Colts when they host the Houston Texans on Saturday night in week 18 of the NFL season.
