NFL Betting Preview: Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots

November 12, 2023

Germany will host an NFL game for the 2nd week in a row and will feature two teams with a storied rivalry that started in the early 2000s with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady as the Indianapolis Colts will play the New England Patriots in Frankfurt am Main at Deutsche Bank Park with kick-off scheduled for 9:30 AM ET on Sunday morning in week 10 of the NFL season.

The Indianapolis Colts are an improved team compared to last season as they enter this game in 3rd place in the AFC South behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans with a record of 4-5 while only being 1.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot in the AFC. The Colts were able to end their three-game losing streak as they defeated the Carolina Panthers on the road by a score of 27-13 while also covering the 1.5-point spread as a road favorite. The defense for the Colts played a pivotal part in the win as they scored two touchdowns off of two interceptions thrown by Bryce Young. Indianapolis will face another below-average team in week 10 when they face the New England Patriots who are currently tied for the 3rd worst record in the NFL.

This has been Bill Belichick’s worst season as the head coach of the New England Patriots as the Patriots enter this game tied with the New York Giants and Chicago Bears for the 3rd worst record in the NFL with a record of 2-7 while also on a two-game losing streak following a 17-20 loss at home against the Washington Commanders while failing to cover the 3-point spread as a home favorite. The Patriots have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league this season as they enter this game ranked 31st in points per game with an average of 15 points per game which is only better than the New York Giants. This will likely be Mac Jones’s last season as the starting quarterback for the Patriots as he has struggled over the past two seasons and has looked dreadful this year completing 197 of 304 attempts for 1,861 yards with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions for a quarterback rating of 80.2 and things won’t be get any easier when he faces the Colts defense who scored two defensive touchdowns last week.

BookMaker has the Indianapolis Colts listed as 1.5-point favorites against the New England Patriots on Sunday morning in week 10 of the NFL season. New England has won nine of the last ten and two of the previous three meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Indianapolis Colts are 5-4 ATS overall and 1-0 ATS as a favorite this season while the New England Patriots are 2-7 ATS overall and 1-5 ATS as an underdog on the year.

New England has dominated this series, winning nine of the previous ten and two of the previous two meetings, however, they have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this season with a record of 2-7 and have also been one of the worst teams at covering the spread going 2-7 ATS overall while also going 1-5 ATS as an underdog. I look for that trend to continue which is why I am buying the .5 point and laying the points with the Indianapolis Colts in week 10 of the NFL season.
