NFL Betting Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

January 7, 2024

The Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to face the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in a battle of two AFC South opponents with the game kicking off at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon and will air on CBS in week 18 of the NFL season.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will clinch the AFC South division with a win against the Tennessee Titans as they enter this game with a record of 9-7 and are in 1st place in the AFC South, however, they have lost four of their last five games but are coming off a 26-0 win at home against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday which also ended their four-game losing streak.

The Jaguars have been a slightly above-average scoring team this season as they enter this game averaging 22.31 points per game and have one of the best passing offenses as they are averaging 240.38 passing yards per game which ranks 9th in the NFL.

Trevor Lawrence missed the game against the Panthers and is questionable for the game against the Titans this week with a shoulder injury. The Jaguars have also been one of the better scoring defenses this season as they are allowing an average of 21.44 points per game which ranks 15th in the league. The Jacksonville Jaguars will look to win the AFC South with a win against the Tennessee Titans on the road.

Tennessee has been eliminated from playoff contention as they enter this game in last place in the AFC South with a record of 5-11 and are on a three-game losing streak following a 3-26 loss on the road against the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Titans have been below-average offensively this season as they are averaging the 5th fewest points per game in the NFL with an average of 17.31 points per game while also having one of the worst passing offenses as they are averaging 182.19 passing yards per game which is the 5th fewest in the league.

However, the Titans have been slightly above average on defense as they are allowing an average of 21.69 points per game. The Tennessee Titans will look to end their three-game losing streak when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Jacksonville Jaguars listed as 5.5-point favorites on the road against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon in week 18 of the NFL season. Tennessee has won six of the last ten while Jacksonville has won the previous three meetings. The Titans are 6-4 ATS in the last ten while the Jaguars are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Jacksonville Jaguars are 9-7 ATS overall, 4-2 ATS on the road, 7-3 ATS as a favorite, and 4-1 ATS in division games this season while the Tennessee Titans are 6-9-1 ATS overall, 4-2-1 ATS at home, 5-7-1 ATS as an underdog, and 0-5 ATS in division games on the year.

Jacksonville has been the better team this season and most recently in the series, winning the previous three meetings. The Jaguars are 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series and have been the better team this season at covering the spread going 9-7 ATS overall and 4-1 ATS in division games while the Titans are 6-9-1 ATS overall and 0-5 ATS in division games which is why I am buying the .5 point and laying the points with the Jacksonville Jaguars when they travel to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
