NFL Betting Preview: Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers

October 29, 2023

A pair of NFC North rivals will square off on Sunday afternoon in week 8 of the NFL season when the Minnesota Vikings travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin to face the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field with the game airing nationally on Fox at 1:00 PM ET.

The Minnesota Vikings enter this game with a record of 3-4 following a 22-17 win at home against the San Francisco 49ers while covering the 7-point spread as a home underdog by winning the game outright in week 7 of the NFL season. Minnesota scored 22 points while compiling a total of 452 yards offensively which included 378 passing yards and 74 rushing yards while allowing 17 points and 325 total yards defensively which included 272 passing yards and 65 rushing yards.

Kirk Cousins led the team in passing, completing 35 of 45 attempts for 378 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Alexander Mattison led the team in rushing with eight carries for 39 yards while adding two receptions for three yards. Jordan Addison led the team in receiving, catching seven of ten targets for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

Green Bay enters this game with a record of 2-4 and are on a three-game losing streak following a 17-19 loss on the road against the Denver Broncos while failing to cover the 1-point spread as a road underdog in week 7 of the NFL season. The Packers scored 17 points while compiling a total of 331 yards offensively which included 194 passing yards and 137 rushing yards while allowing 19 points and 339 total yards defensively which included 194 passing yards and 145 rushing yards. Jordan Love led the team in passing, completing 21 of 31 attempts for 180 yards with two touchdowns and an interception while adding 21 rushing yards on three attempts. A.J. Dillon led the team in rushing with 15 carries for 61 yards while also leading the team in receiving, catching both targets for 34 yards.

BookMaker has the Minnesota Vikings listed as 1-point favorites on the road against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon in week 8 of the NFL season. Green Bay is 5-4-1 in the last ten and has won two of the last three meetings while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The Minnesota Vikings are 3-3-1 ATS overall, 2-0-1 ATS on the road, 2-1 ATS as a favorite, and 1-0 ATS in division games this season while the Green Bay Packers are 3-3 ATS overall, 1-1 ATS at home, 3-3 ATS as an underdog, and 1-1 ATS in division games on the year.

This will be the first time Green Bay has faced the Minnesota Vikings in the post-Aaron Rodgers era and even though the Packers have been the better team in the series, that was with Rodgers. Now that Aaron Rodgers is gone the Vikings become the more talented team and have gone 2-0-1 ATS on the road while the Packers are 1-1 ATS at home. I look for the Vikings to get the win when they travel to face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon which is why I am taking the moneyline for the Minnesota Vikings at -115 in week 8 of the NFL season.

Spooky Express Pick: Minnesota Vikings Moneyline (-115)
