NFL Betting Preview: Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints

November 12, 2023

The New Orleans Saints will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to face the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium in week 10 of the NFL season with the game scheduled to start at 1:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.

New Orleans has looked like the best team in the NFC South this season, however, that isn’t saying much as the division as a whole is the worst division in the NFL and the Saints have been inconsistent throughout the year. However, the New Orleans Saints are on a two-game winning streak which had improved their record to 5-4 this season following a 24-17 win at home against the Chicago Bears last week while failing to cover the 9-point spread as a home favorite. The Saints have been one of the better teams in the NFL this season at least defensively as they are allowing an average of 19 points per game which is the 7th-fewest in the league and will look to continue that against a team that has lost their starting quarterback as well as their top playmaker on offense in the Minnesota Vikings.

Despite losing Kirk Cousins for the year due to injury before last week’s game, the Minnesota Vikings were able to extend their winning streak to four games including last week’s 31-28 win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons which has made them one of the hottest teams in the NFL and after a 1-4 start to the season, the Vikings are in 2nd place in the NFC North and would be in the playoffs if they started today. Their offense has looked impressive over the last four weeks as they are averaging 21.5 points per game during that streak and have been a slightly above average team in the NFL in points per game as they are averaging 22.89 points per game.

BookMaker has the New Orleans Saints listed as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon in week 10 of the NFL season. New Orleans has won six of the last ten while Minnesota has won two of the last three meetings. The Saints are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. The New Orleans Saints are 2-6-1 ATS overall, 2-2-1 ATS on the road, and 1-6-1 ATS as a favorite this season while the Minnesota Vikings are 5-3-1 ATS overall, 1-3 ATS at home, and 2-1-1 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Despite not having Kirk Cousins last week, the Minnesota Vikings extended their winning streak to four games while also scoring their highest point total this season with 31 points, however, they will be facing a tougher defense this week in the New Orleans Saints who are allowing the 7th-fewest points per game this season and New Orleans has been the better team at covering the spread in the series going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three meetings. As a result, I am buying the .5 point and laying the points with the New Orleans Saints when they travel to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon.
