NFL Betting Preview: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

September 25, 2023

Most people expected the Philadelphia Eagles to be 2-0 entering this game, however, I doubt many expected the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be 2-0, however, both teams will enter Monday night’s matchup undefeated with a record of 2-0. Which team will come out of Monday night’s game still undefeated? Let’s take a look at how these teams have fared this season.

The Philadelphia Eagles enter this game with a record of 2-0 following a 34-28 win at home against the Minnesota Vikings while the game ended in a push in week 2 of the NFL season. Philadelphia scored 34 points while compiling a total of 430 total yards offensively which included 193 passing yards and 259 rushing yards while allowing 28 points and 374 total yards defensively which included 364 passing yards and 28 rushing yards.

Jalen Hurts led the team in passing, completing 18 of 23 attempts for 193 yards with a touchdown and an interception while rushing for 35 yards and two touchdowns. D’Andre Swift led the team in rushing with 28 carries for 175 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions for six yards. DeVonta Smith led the team in receiving, catching four of five targets for 131 yards and a touchdown.

Tampa Bay enters this game with a record of 2-0 following a 27-17 win at home against the Chicago Bears while covering the 2.5-point spread as a home favorite in week 2 of the NFL season. The Buccaneers scored 27 points while compiling a total of 437 total yards offensively which included 317 passing yards and 120 rushing yards while allowing 17 points and 236 total yards defensively which included 211 passing yards and 67 rushing yards.

Baker Mayfield led the team in passing, completing 26 of 34 attempts for 317 yards and a touchdown while adding 17 rushing yards. Rachaad White led the team in rushing with 17 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown while adding five receptions for 30 yards. Mike Evans led the team in receiving, catching six of eight targets for 171 yards and a touchdown.

BookMaker has the Philadelphia Eagles listed as 4.5-point favorites on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night in week 3 of the NFL season. Tampa Bay has won seven of the last ten including the previous four matchups in a row while going 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. Philadelphia is 1-0-1 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS on the road, and 1-0-1 ATS as a favorite while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 2-0 ATS overall, 1-0 ATS at home, and 1-0 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Philadelphia is the more talented team this season, however, Tampa Bay has been the better team in the series, winning seven of the last ten and two of the last three games. The Buccaneers are 6-4 ATS in the last ten and 2-1 ATS in the last three games in the series. As a result, I am buying the .5 point and taking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers +5 on BookMaker for this matchup on Monday night.
