NFL Betting Preview: Seattle Seahawks vs. Tennessee Titans

December 24, 2023

The Seattle Seahawks will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to face the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium with the game kicking off at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday afternoon in week 16 of the NFL season and will air on CBS.

Seattle ended their four-game losing streak on Monday night following a 20-17 win at home against the Philadelphia Eagles which has improved their record to .500 this season with a record of 7-7. The Seahawks are tied with the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints for the final two NFC Wild Card spots, however, they would not be in the playoffs if they started today because they would lose the tiebreaker to the Vikings and Rams.

Seattle has been a below-average offensive team this season as they enter this game averaging 21.43 points per game and for a team that was projected to be one of the best-rushing offenses in the league this season they have failed to live up to that expectation as they are averaging the 5th fewest rushing yards per game with an average of 92.57 rushing yards per game, however, they have been an above-average passing team as they are averaging 230.14 passing yards per game.

Geno Smith has had a solid season as he enters this game having completed 259 of 402 attempts for 2,918 yards with 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions, however, he has missed the last two games with a groin injury. The Seattle Seahawks will look to build off the momentum following Monday Night’s win against the Philadelphia Eagles when they travel to face the Tennessee Titans.

The Tennessee Titans have officially been eliminated from playoff contention which means they will miss the playoffs for the 2nd season in a row as they enter this game with a record of 5-9 and are coming off a 16-19 overtime loss at home against the Houston Texans in week 15.

The Titans led the game 13-0 at the beginning of the 2nd quarter, however, the Texans would score 19 of the final 22 points including the 54-yard game-winning field goal in overtime. Tennessee has also been one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NFL this season as they enter this game averaging 18.36 points per game which is the 6th fewest points per game this season.

Derrick Henry is likely in his last season with the Tennessee Titans, however, he has been one of the best players in franchise history as he is 2nd in rushing yards all-time for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans and has still had a solid season in his 8th season in the NFL as he leads the team in rushing with 884 yards and ten touchdowns while adding 27 receptions for 203 yards. The Titans will look to bounce back following the overtime loss against the Houston Texans when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.

BookMaker has the Seattle Seahawks listed as 2.5-point favorites on the road against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon in week 16 of the NFL season. Seattle has won five of the last eight while Tennessee has won two of the last three meetings. The Titans are 6-2 ATS in the last ten and have covered the spread in three straight games in the series. The Seattle Seahawks are 8-5-1 ATS overall, 5-2 ATS on the road, and 3-2-1 ATS as a favorite this season while the Tennessee Titans are 6-8 ATS overall, 4-2 ATS at home, and 5-6 ATS as an underdog on the year.

Seattle is the better team this season and has been the better team in the series, winning five of the last eight against Tennessee. The Seahawks have also been the better team at covering the spread this season as they are 8-5-1 ATS overall while the Titans are 6-8 ATS overall which is why I am buying the .5 point and laying the points with the Seattle Seahawks when they travel to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon in week 16 of the NFL season.
