NFL Betting Preview: Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints

September 10, 2023

We have a week 1 matchup featuring two teams that should be in the playoff mix and in contention for their division title as the Tennessee Titans travel to take on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday in week 1 of the NFL season. Which team will start the season off with a win in this matchup? Let’s take a look at how these teams are projected to fare in the 2023 NFL season.

The Tennessee Titans finished the 2023 NFL Preseason with a record of 2-1 with wins on the road against the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 24-16 and at home against the New England Patriots by a score of 23-7 while losing on the road against the Chicago Bears by a score of 17-23. The Titans finished the 2022 NFL season with a record of 7-10 which was their first losing season since the 2015 NFL season which they finished with a record of 3-13 and the Saints missed the playoffs for the 1st time since the 2018 NFL season.

This year, the Tennessee Titans enter the season with an over/under win total of 7.5 wins and based on Vegas odds are projected to be the 2nd best team in the AFC South and are only projected to finish behind the Jacksonville Jaguars.

New Orleans finished the NFL Preseason with a record of 2-1 with wins at home against the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 26-24 and on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 22-17 while losing at home against the Houston Texans by a score of 13-17. The Saints finished last season with a record of 7-10 which led to a 3rd place finish in the NFC South and New Orleans missing the playoffs for the 2nd season in a row while finishing with a losing record for the first time since the 2016 NFL season.

This season, the New Orleans Saints enter the year with an over/under win total of 9.5 wins and based on Vegas odds are projected to be the best team in the NFC South as the Saints are +114 to win the NFC South.

BookMaker has the New Orleans Saints listed as 3-point favorites at home on Sunday in week 1 of the NFL season. Tennessee has won six of the last eight and two of the last three games in the series while going 4-3-1 in the last eight matchups. Tennessee finished last season with a record of 9-7-1 ATS overall, 6-2-1 ATS on the road, and 5-3-1 ATS as an underdog while the New Orleans Saints finished with a record of 7-10 ATS overall, 3-5 ATS at home, and 2-4 ATS as a favorite.

New Orleans enters the season projected to finish with a better record as the Saints have an over/under win total of 9.5 games while the Titans have an over/under win total of 7.5 games. However, the Titans have been the better team in the series, winning six of the last eight games while going 4-3-1 ATS in those matchups I look for that trend to continue in week 1 of the NFL season with the Tennessee Titans travel to take on the New Orleans Saints which is why I am taking the money line for the Tennessee Titans at +158 on BookMaker for this matchup on Sunday afternoon.
