NHL Betting Picks and Predictions: Colorado Avalanche vs. Seattle Kraken
November 13, 2023
The Colorado Avalanche will travel to Seattle, Washington to face the Seattle Kraken on Monday night at the Climate Pledge Arena with the game scheduled to start at 10:00 PM ET.
After starting the season off 6-0, the Colorado Avalanche have struggled over their last seven games as they have gone 2-5 during that time and are on a two-game losing streak which includes a 2-8 loss at home against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. During their first six games this season Colorado outscored their opponents 28-12 while over their last seven games, they have been outscored 15-31 while suffering three shutout losses during that time. However, the Avalanche still remain an above-average scoring team as they enter this matchup averaging 3.31 goals per game and Mikko Rantanen has played a pivotal role early on in the season as he leads the team in points and goals with 19 points and 9 goals.
Seattle was a surprise team last season as they made the playoffs in their 2
nd
season in the NHL, however, the Kraken have not built on the momentum this season as they have struggled to begin the season as they enter this game with a record of 5-7-3 and 13 points which puts them in 5
th
place in the Pacific Division and 10
th
place in the Western Conference. Both goalies for the Seattle Kraken have struggled this season as the Kraken are allowing an average of 3.53 goals per game which is the 8
th
most in the NHL. Philipp Grubauer has been the worst of the two goalies this season as he has a save percentage of .891 and is allowing an average of 3.37 goals per game with a record of 3-6 and will be looking to bounce back following the loss against the Edmonton Oilers when the Kraken host the Avalanche on Monday night.
BookMaker has the Colorado Avalanche listed as -148 moneyline favorites on the road against the Seattle Kraken on Monday night. Seattle has won six of the last ten and two of the last three meetings. The Avalanche have outscored the Kraken by an average of 2.8 to 2.6 goals per game over the last ten and 2.33 to 2 goals per game over the last three games in the series.
Both goalies have struggled over their last three starts as Alexandar Georgiev has allowed a total of 16 goals for an average of 5.33 goals per game over his last three starts while Philipp Grubauer has allowed a total of 11 goals per game for an average of 3.67 goals per game over his last three starts. The teams most recently played on Thursday and combined for a total of seven goals and given how both starting goalies in this matchup have struggled over their last three starts I expect to see a lot of scoring again when these teams meet on Monday night which is why I am taking the over 6.5 goals when the Colorado Avalanche travel to face the Seattle Kraken on Monday night.
Spooky Express Pick: Over 6.5 Goals
