NHL Betting Picks and Predictions: Seattle Kraken vs. Vegas Golden Knights

October 10, 2023

In game three of the double-header on ESPN, the Seattle Kraken will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to face the reigning Stanley Cup Champion, Vegas Golden Knights, at T-Mobile Arena at 10:30 PM to cap things off for Opening Night of the NHL season.

The Seattle Kraken made the playoffs in their second season as a franchise last year after finishing with a record of 46-28-8 and 100 points which led to a 4th place finish in the Pacific Division and a 7th place finish in the Western Conference. Seattle won in the 1st round of the playoffs by defeating the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 before losing in the 2nd round of the NHL Playoffs against the Dallas Stars 3-4. This year, the Kraken enter the season with an over/under point total of 93.5 points which means they should once again be in the Wild Card mix in the Western Conference and are projected to be the 5th best team in the Pacific Division. Philipp Grubauer will start at goalie on Opening Night for the Seattle Kraken after finishing last season with a record of 17-14-4 with a .895 save percentage while allowing an average of 2.85 goals per game.

Vegas won the Stanley Cup Championship last year after finishing the regular season with a record of 51-22-9 and 111 points which led to a Pacific Division title and the best record in the Western Conference. The Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets in five games in the 1st round, the Edmonton Oilers in six games in the 2nd round, and the Dallas Stars in six games in the Western Conference Finals before defeating the Florida Panthers in five games in the Stanley Cup Finals. This season, the Vegas Golden Knights enter the year with an over/under point total of 101.5 points which means they are projected to once again be one of the top teams in the Western Conference and are projected to finish in 2nd place in the Pacific Division, only behind the Edmonton Oilers. The Golden Knights will start Adin Hill at goalie on Opening Night after Hill finished last year with a record of 16-7-1 with a .914 save percentage while allowing an average of 2.49 goals per game.

BookMaker has the Vegas Golden Knights listed as -167 money-line favorites at home against the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night. Vegas has won seven of the eight games all-time and two of the last three matchups while winning by an average margin of 1.87 goals per game all-time and 1 goal per game over the last three games in the series.

Both teams are playoff caliber teams this season as Vegas is projected to once again be one of the top teams in the Western Conference while Seattle is expected to be in the Wild Card mix. The Golden Knights have dominated the series winning seven of the eight games all-time and with this being the Stanley Cup banner reveal game, I expect the Golden Knights to be fired up to play in this matchup in front of their home crowd which is why I will be taking the money line for the Vegas Golden Knights at -167 at home against the Seattle Krakent on BookMaker.

Spooky Express Pick: Vegas Golden Knights Money Line (-167)
