NLCS Betting Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies

October 24, 2023

Game 7 of the NLCS will take place on Tuesday night when the Arizona Diamondbacks travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to face the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park with the game airing at 8:07 PM ET on TBS and the winner advancing to face the Texas Rangers in the 2023 World Series.

Arizona has now won three of the last four games in the series including Monday’s 5-1 win in Game 6 of the NLCS to avoid elimination from the playoffs and have forced a Game 7. Three of the runs for the Diamondbacks came in the 2nd inning which included one-run home runs from Tommy Pham and Lourdes Gurriel. Merrill Kelly was phenomenal on the mound with eight strikeouts while allowing one run over 5 innings pitched in the win.

The Philadelphia Phillies were one win away from advancing to the World Series for the 2nd year in a row, however, they lost Game 6 at home by a score of 1-5 and now face enormous pressure in Game 7 of the NLCS at home on Tuesday. The lone run for Philadelphia came in the 2nd inning when J.T. Realmuto scored off a base hit from Brandon Marsh. Aaron Nola allowed four runs while recording four strikeouts over 4 ? innings pitched in the loss in Game 6 of the NLCS against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

BookMaker has the Philadelphia Phillies listed as -155 moneyline favorites at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks for Game 7 of the NLCS on Tuesday night. Philadelphia has won six of the last ten while winning by an average margin of 2.4 runs per game in those matchups while the Arizona Diamondbacks have won two of the last three games in the series while both teams averaged 4 runs per game in those contests.

The Arizona Diamondbacks will send Brandon Pfaadt to the mound while the Philadelphia Phillies will send Ranger Suarez to the mound for Game 7 of the NLCS on Tuesday. Brandon Pfaadt is 3-9 this season with a 5.72 ERA while recording 94 strikeouts while Ranger Suarez is 4-6 on the year with an ERA of 4.18 and has recorded 119 strikeouts.

Brandon Pfaadt has not recorded a decision in the postseason with a 2.13 ERA while recording 15 strikeouts with his last start coming against the Philadelphia Phillies in which Pfaadt didn’t allow a run while recording nine strikeouts in 5 2/3rd innings pitched.

Ranger Suarez is 1-0 in the postseason with an ERA of 0.64 and has recorded 13 strikeouts over 14 innings pitched with his last start coming against the Arizona Diamondbacks in which Suarez didn’t allow a run and recorded seven strikeouts in the no-decision.

Both pitchers have been phenomenal in the postseason with Brandon Pfaadt having an ERA of 2.13 and Ranger Suarez having a 0.64 ERA and have already faced the opposing team once in the NLCS in which neither allowed a run. The under has been the trend most recently in the series, hitting in two of the last three games including Game 6 on Monday. I look for the trend to continue which is why I am taking the under 8 runs for Game 7 of the NLCS on Tuesday night.
