Ohio State Buckeyes vs. W. Michigan Broncos

September 7, 2024

Written By: Evan Perkins

Your next college football betting opportunity should be when Western Michigan Broncos (1-0) take on the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0) on Saturday, September 7 at 7:30 PM ET at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Unsurprisingly, the Buckeyes are heavy favorites, as their point spread is set at -38.0 (-110).

Western Michigan Broncos Betting Preview

The Broncos have a tough match coming up, which will be more complex than their recent defeat. This was a 28-14 battle against the Wisconsin Badgers, which was close for most of the game before the Badgers broke out late in the fourth quarter.

Hayden Wolff played a solid game, but not enough to push the offense in the right direction. He completed 12 of 18 passes, accumulated 141 yards, but had an interception. Jalen Buckley stood out with his 16 carries, 64 yards, and two touchdowns. Both will need tremendous games to help against the Buckeyes.

The Broncos had acquired 261 yards and 13 first downs but also had two turnovers. They allowed the Badgers to get 388 yards and 27 first downs, and they only cussed one turnover. This will be ugly if they cannot contain the Buckeyes, who are much deadlier offensively than the Badgers.

They only had possession of the ball for roughly 24 minutes, while the Badgers took over with 35 minutes of action. They can slow down the Buckeyes if they have more time with the ball.

Ohio State Buckeyes Betting Preview

The Buckeyes recently demolished the Akron Zips in a 52-6 victory in their season debut. The first quarter ended 7-3, and the Buckeyes had a 17-3 lead at the half, but they would later have a 21-point outburst in the third to extend their lead.

Will Howard threw 17-for-28 and had 228 yards for three touchdowns. Jeremiah Smith had six receptions for 92 yards and put in two touchdowns. Even though the offense was sluggish to start, they eventually clicked and got it going.

The Buckeyes accumulated 404 yards, 24 first downs, and no turnovers. The Zips struggled with 177 yards, three turnovers, and 11 first downs. This is the type of defensive pressure the Buckeyes will need to cover the spread against the Broncos.
