PFL 9: 2023 Playoffs Betting Preview: Biaggio Ali Walsh vs. Ed Davis
August 23, 2023
PFL 9 showcases plenty of interesting betting options and fighters to look into. In the preliminary card is a perfect example of that, which is the amateur lightweight showdown between Biaggio Ali Walsh and Ed Davis.
Date: August 23, 2023
Location: The Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Main Card: ESPN/ESPN+ at 9:00 PM ET
Prelims: ESPN+ at 6:30 PM ET
Biaggio Ali Walsh Betting Preview
Walsh is currently on a four-fight win streak heading into this event. His most recent victory was a first round knockout against Travell Miller back in June earlier this year.
He has gone 4-1 so far in his amateur career, with all four victories coming by knockout. In addition, all of his knockouts have resulted in a first round finish and he has one loss by submission.
Walsh is the grandson of the late Muhammad Ali, so of course his name will be popular for anything fighting related. He has looked good on the PFL stage so far, boasting three wins.
This will arguably be another good test for him, as he has not really fought anyone that has given him issues other than his first career loss. Walsh is aiming to get his career in order before turning professional.
Ed Davis Betting Preview
Davis is coming off of a tough unanimous decision defeat against Kyle Pufahl back in February of this year. This snapped his previous two-fight win streak and he is now aiming to get back on track.
His fighting resume shows that he is 2-1 in amateur fights, with both victories coming by knockout. Only one of them so far has been a first round finish.
He has limited experience, but has good qualities heading into this matchup. This will also be his debut in the PFL, as previously he has fought with the New England Fights.
As long as he stays aggressive, he definitely has a shot to win. However, his boxing skills would likely need to be quite good here.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie reveals that Biaggio Ali Walsh is a huge favorite to win this amateur lightweight bout. A parlay could be another option to consider adding Walsh to so you can achieve best odds with other fights on the night.
Ed Davis: +515
Biaggio Ali Walsh: -1250
*odds are subject to changes
Davis has a compelling resume, but there are just not enough opportunities that show him winning. He also does not have the best momentum coming into this fight.
Will Walsh be able to end this early or can Davis be able to make things interesting? Overall, Walsh is seemingly on the right path to turning professional with another win here.
Final Pick: Take Biaggio Ali Walsh to Win at -1250
