PFL 9: 2023 Playoffs Betting Preview: Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Bruno Miranda
August 23, 2023
PFL 9 has an outstanding co-main event that you must check out for betting opportunities. This will be another lightweight semifinal showdown right before the main event for the night, which features Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Bruno Miranda.
Date: August 23, 2023
Location: The Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
Main Card: ESPN/ESPN+ at 9:00 PM ET
Prelims: ESPN+ at 6:30 PM ET
Olivier Aubin-Mercier Betting Preview
Aubin-Mercier has won his previous eight fights and is looking to impress once again. His most recent success was a third round knockout against Anthony Romero back in June earlier this year.
Out of his 19 wins so far, three of them are by knockout, eight are by submission, and another eight have been decisions. Five of his victories have resulted in a first round finish and all five of his losses have come by decision.
“The Canadian Gangster” went 7-5 in the UFC against quality fighters, but has looked impressive in his PFL career so far with an 8-0 record. This is especially appealing in his last four bouts, as he has taken care of some of the best fighters in the PFL for this division.
He is currently ranked as the 44
th
best lightweight fighter in the world. If he keeps his momentum up, he will definitely increase this ranking soon.
Bruno Miranda Betting Preview
Miranda is not far behind Aubin-Mercier with his winning streak, as he has put together seven consecutive himself. His most recent performance was a split decision against Alex Martinez back in June earlier this year.
With 16 victories so far in his career, he has nine by knockout, two by submission, and five by decision. Seven of those wins have resulted in a first round finish and two of his three losses have been by submission.
“Robusto” has bounced around some through this career. He has gone 3-0 in the PFL, 7-2 in the Road Fighting Championship, and 3-1 in Watch out Combat Show.
Miranda is currently ranked as the 112
th
best lightweight fighter in the world. This is a great opportunity to increase his rank tremendously with a quality win.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie is revealing that Olivier Aubin-Mercier is a moderate favorite to win the co-main event. Bettors could look to add Aubin-Mercier to a parlay with other fights on the night to get the best bang for your buck.
Bruno Miranda: +350
Olivier Aubin-Mercier: -450
*odds are subject to changes
Miranda has an opportunity to make this battle competitive and to potentially win if he can control the pace. However, Aubin-Mercier has the better resume and has earned a better ranking worldwide, making him a more appealing bet.
Final Pick: Take Olivier Aubin-Mercier to Win at -450
