The 3M Open is coming up soon on the PGA Tour calendar, starting Thursday, July 25, at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. Golfers will compete for a share of the $8,100,000 prize purse, with Tony Finau as the market favorite, with odds at +1050.
The 3M Open is coming up at the Twin Cities course, which was designed in 2000 by Arnold Palmer and a variety of other golfing pros. This event is in conjunction with other Tournament Players Club (TPC) events, resulting in classic form and prestigious layouts.
The course is a Par 71 that spans about 30 yards over 7,400. This makes it the ninth-longest course on the PGA Tour, so driving will be key here. A few holes reach nearly 600 yards and could test some that lack power at the tee box.
In addition, the course ranks third in the number of water hazards (27) across 13 holes. This should provide a challenge to those with bad iron shots or difficulty with accuracy.
A lot of the attention will be on the strong pack of golfers competing in this event, as well as those who are not competing because they are playing in the Olympics. Below are a few options to consider.
Bhatia did not make the cut last week at The Open, which arguably dropped his odds a bit but should create appealing value for him. He had two top-five finishes last month and should have a shot here.
Clanton arguably has a bright future ahead of him in the PGA Tour. He landed within the top 10 back-to-back a few weeks ago (T10 Rocket Mortgage Classic and T2 at the John Deere Classic) and is the first amateur since 1958 to do something like that.
Mitchell has missed a few cuts lately and has ultimately dropped his stock. However, given his odds, this could be a great betting opportunity.
He has played well at this event in particular and has two fifth-place finishes. He also ranks second for ball striking and leads the field with his birdie or better percentage.
The most up-to-date PGA Tour betting odds have been showcased through MyBookie for the 3M Open experience. While plenty of golfers stand out, Tony Finau leads the field as the favorite.
Since many of the best players in the world are competing in the 2024 Olympics, a handful will not be competing here. This narrows down the field a bit, but eyes should still be on Finau since he won this event two years ago. Look for Finau to have a compelling tournament to get back on track.
