The 2023 Idaho Potato Bowl will take place on Saturday, December 23^rd when the Georgia State Panthers face the Utah State Aggies in Boise, Idaho at Albertsons Stadium with the game scheduled to start at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday afternoon and will air on ESPN.

 

The Georgia State Panthers finished in 5^th place in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference and started the season off with a record of 6-1, however, after the win against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns, the Panthers went on a five-game losing streak to end the season which included a 24-25 loss on the road against the Old Dominion Monarchs in the season finale.

 

Georgia State had one of the worst scoring defenses in college football this season as they allowed an average of 30.75 points per game which was the 29^th most given up this season. The offense was slightly below average as the Panthers averaged 25.75 points per game, however, they had one of the better rushing offenses in college football with Marcus Carroll leading the team in rushing with 1,350 yards and 13 touchdowns.

 

The Georgia State Panthers will look to end their five-game losing streak and finish with a winning record when they face the Utah State Aggies.

 

The Utah State Aggies finished the regular season with a record of 6-6 which led to a 6^th place finish in the Mountain West, however, they won three of their last four games of the season including a 44-41 double-overtime win against the New Mexico Lobos in their season finale. Utah State featured an above-average offense that averaged 34.08 points per game and the passing game played a major role in the success the offense had this season as they averaged 241 passing yards per game. Jalen Royals and Terrell Vaughn combined for 150 receptions for 1,874 yards and 24 touchdowns.

 

However, they featured one of the worst scoring defenses in the nation as they allowed an average of 33.83 points per game which was the 14^th most given up this year. The Utah State Aggies will look to finish with a winning record this season when they face the Georgia State Panthers in the Idaho Potato Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
