August 26, 2023
The imminent UFC Fight Night boasts a stacked main card, brimming with enticing betting prospects that demand your attention. Notably, the co-main attraction will showcase an electrifying light heavyweight clash featuring the eighth-ranked Anthony Smith squaring off against the tenth-ranked Ryan Spann.
Location: Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore
Date: Saturday, August 26, 2023
Main Card: 7:00 AM CDT
Prelims: 4:00 AM CDT
Coverage: ESPN and ESPN+
Anthony Smith Betting Preview
Smith has lost his previous two battles and needs to get back on track. His last defeat was a unanimous decision against Johnny Walker back in May of this year.
He has amassed 36 wins that are 19 knockouts, 14 submissions, two decisions, and one by other. 20 of those wins have been first round finishes and 10 of his 18 losses have come by knockout.
“Lionheart” is able to land strikes with an accuracy at 47 percent, but struggles with takedowns with an accuracy at 28 percent. His ratio for significant strikes is negative too, with 2.96 landed each minute and absorbing 4.49.
His defense will be in question, as his ability to stop significant strikes at 44 percent and takedowns at 48 percent. He is not that active on the ground, with averages of 0.48 takedowns and 0.69 submissions per 15 minutes of action.
Ryan Spann Betting Preview
Spann is coming off of a first round triangle choke submission defeat against Nikita Krylov back in March earlier this year. He has gone 2-2 in his last four battles, with one of those losses against Smith.
He has accumulated 21 wins consisting of six knockouts, 12 submissions, and three decisions. 15 of those victories have resulted in first round finishes and he has eight losses, but three each per knockout and submission.
“Superman” has been striking with an accuracy of 45 percent and is taking down opponents at an accuracy of 38 percent. He is landing 3.28 strikes each minute and is taking on 3.32, so essentially breaking even.
His significant strike defense could use some work at 48 percent, as well as his takedown defense at 45 percent. He is making moves on the ground, averaging 1.64 takedowns and 1.91 submissions per 15 minutes of fighting time.
Game Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
The following moneyline from MyBookie reveals Ryan Spann is a slight favorite to win this close matchup. This is an interesting view from the market, as Smith has defeated Spann once before in the first round by submission.
Anthony Smith: +105
Ryan Spann: -133
Spann will likely come out a little better than last time, but he appeared to be at a disadvantage and was not able to land a lot of good strikes. Look for Smith to land a knockout to win once again.
Final Pick: Take Anthony Smith to Win at +105
