UFC Fight Night Betting Preview: Chad Anheiliger vs. Jose Johnson
November 18, 2023
The battle between bantamweights Chad Anheliger (12-6-0) and Jose Johnson (15-8-0) is coming up soon in the prelims for UFC Fight Night 232 on Saturday, November 18. Johnson is a moderate favorite to win this fight with a moneyline at -190.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Saturday, November 18, 2023
Main Card: 5:00 PM ET
Prelims: 2:00 PM ET
Coverage: ESPN+
Chad Anheliger Betting Preview
Anheliger had his 11-fight win streak shattered in his last performance, which was a unanimous decision defeat against Heili Alateng back at UFC 279 in September a year ago. He is now 1-1 in the UFC and his previous defeat was back in 2014.
His fighting resume shows 12 wins that consist of seven knockouts, three submissions, and two decisions. In six of his wins, he has been able to end the fight in the opening round. Looking at his six losses, five have been by submission.
“The Monster” has landed strikes successfully at a rate of 44 percent, but has yet to successfully land a takedown in the UFC. He delivers 3.51 significant strikes each minute of action while taking on 3.31. This is solid, but might not be a big enough gap in the amount of strikes at hand.
Anheliger defends against significant strikes at 55 percent, but does slightly worse against takedowns at 48 percent. He does not yet have any averages for takedowns of submissions per UFC fight.
Jose Johnson Betting Preview
Johnson is coming off of his debut in the UFC, which was a first round submission defeat to Da’Mon Blackshear at UFC on ESPN 51 in August of this year. This stopped his previous progress of winning three fights in a row, dating back to 2021.
In 15 professional fights, he has recorded eight knockouts, two submissions, and five decisions. He also has eight first round finishes, which show he is deadly from the start. Out of his eight losses, he has half of them by submissions.
“Lobo Solitario” has landed strikes at a success rate of 63 percent and takedowns at 50 percent. He lands 2.16 significant strikes each minute and takes on 1.72, which shows a slightly favorable ratio.
He defends against significant strikes at 51 percent and against takedowns at 33 percent. He also averages 0.44 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time.
