UFC Fight Night Betting Preview: Payton Talbott vs. Nick Aguirre
November 18, 2023
Coming up on Saturday, November 18, the UFC Fight Night 232 showcases bantamweights Payton Talbott (6-0-0) and Nick Aguirre (7-1-0) on the main card for a rising talent battle. Talbott is heavily favored with a moneyline of -800.
Location: UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada
Date: Saturday, November 18, 2023
Main Card: 5:00 PM ET
Prelims: 2:00 PM ET
Coverage: ESPN+
Payton Talbott Betting Preview
Talbott is undefeated through six bouts and earns his first test in the UFC after success in Dana White’s Contender Series. This recent win was a unanimous decision over Reyes Cortez Jr. in August of this year.
In these six victories, he has five knockouts and one decision. While no first round finishes on his resume yet, he has several early knockouts in the second round that have been brutal.
Prior to winning the DWCS challenge, he performed well at the Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat where he went 3-0. These were against established opponents that had a handful of wins, which arguably make his victories a little more appealing
Talbott’s success and hype has earned him the 128
th
-best ranking in the world for bantamweight fighters. His quick hands and consistent striking make him a threat to finish this battle early.
Nick Aguirre Betting Preview
Aguirre just experienced his first career defeat, which was his debut in the UFC at Fight Night 217. This loss was to Dan Argueta by unanimous decision back in January of this year.
He has established seven wins that consist of three knockouts and four submissions, with six of the seven ending in the first round. His recent defeat was the first time he has ever fought in the final round professionally.
“Slick” gets a second crack at the UFC since he lost in his debut for the promotion. Prior to that fight, he went 4-0 in the Colosseum Combat. However, this was against fighters that he was “supposed to beat”, as most had hardly any experience or winning resumes.
In fact, the recent loss was the first time Aguirre faced an opponent with quality experience. This arguably does not bode well for his chances at success.
Odds, Series Trends and Free Pick
MyBookie offers Payton Talbott as a heavy favorite to win this showdown. Based on his success, this is a good chance for another win.
Nick Aguirre: +550
Payton Talbott: -800
Aguirre might have enough in him to prolong this fight, especially since taking Argueta (70
th
in world rankings) to a decision. If you are looking to wager on Talbott, seek to add him on a parlay with other fights on the night or seek a prop bet. For example on props, consider taking the bet for over 1.5 rounds (-215) or potentially under 1.5 (+165).
Spooky Express Pick: Over 1.5 Rounds (-215)
