Vegas Golden Knights vs. Chicago Blackhawks

April 16, 2024

The Chicago Blackhawks will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, to face the Vegas Golden Knights at the T-Mobile Arena. The puck is scheduled to drop at 10:00 PM ET on Tuesday night and will air on ESPN+ and Hulu.

Chicago Blackhawks Team Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks will finish with one of the worst records in the NHL. They enter with the second-worst record in the NHL, 23-52-5, and 51 points, which is only four points better than the San Jose Sharks' record, and with only two games left to play in the regular season.

The Blackhawks have lost four straight and five of their six games in April, losing by an average margin of 2.17 goals per game this month and 3.25 goals per game during their losing streak. This will be the third time this season that the Blackhawks will face the Golden Knights, with the Blackhawks winning the most recent game by a score of 4-3 on the road at the beginning of the season.

Chicago has also won two of the previous three games in the series, with both teams averaging 3.33 goals per game. The Chicago Blackhawks will look to win the 2023-24 regular season series 2-1 when they travel to face the Vegas Golden Knights.

Vegas Golden Knights Team Preview

The Vegas Golden Knights won the 2023 Stanley Cup last season and have already locked in a spot in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. This will be their sixth Stanley Cup appearance in only their seventh year in the NHL.

The Vegas Golden Knights can still finish in 3rd place in the Pacific Division as they trail the Los Angeles Kings by one point for 3rd place in the division with a record of 44-28-8 and 96 points. The Golden Knights enter this game on a two-game winning streak following a 4-3 overtime win at home on Sunday. After trailing the game 0-3 entering the 3rd period, Vegas would go on to score three unanswered goals in the 3rd period to tie the game and then scored the game-winning goal in overtime to beat the Avalanche.

Vegas won the first meeting of the three-game regular season series on the road by a score of 5-3. However, the Golden Knights lost the second game of the series at home by a score of 3-4 and have lost two of the previous three games in the series. The Vegas Golden Knights will look to avenge the loss at home and extend their winning streak to three games when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night.

Odds and Series Trends

JustBet has the Vegas Golden Knights listed as -357 moneyline favorites at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. Chicago has won two of the previous three games in the series; however, both teams have averaged 3.33 goals per game in the last three meetings. The teams have also split the last ten games in the series, with the Golden Knights outscoring the Blackhawks by an average of 2.9 to 2.7 goals per game in those contests.

Game Pick

Vegas still has an outside chance to move up in the playoff standings and could finish in third place in the Pacific Division, while Chicago will finish with one of the worst records in the NHL. The Golden Knights are on a two-game winning streak, while the Blackhawks have lost four straight games.

Despite the disparity between the two teams, the series has been tightly contested. The teams have split the previous ten games, with Vegas having outscored Chicago by an average of 2.9 to 2.7 goals per game. Although the Blackhawks have won two of the previous three games in the series, both teams have averaged 3.33 goals per game in those matchups.

As a result, I am taking the puck line for the Chicago Blackhawks at +1.5 when they travel to face the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.
