What is the best Total Play for Super Bowl LVII: Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers
February 11, 2024
The San Francisco 49ers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday evening in Paradise, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium and will air on CBS, Nickelodeon, and Paramount+ at 6:30 PM ET.
San Francisco was one of the most complete teams in the NFL this season as they ranked 2
nd
in scoring with an average of 28.89 points per game. The 49ers have one of the most talented offenses in the NFL with an MVP candidate and an OPOY candidate at quarterback and running back as Brock Purdy has been one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season and finished the regular season completing 69.4% of his passes for 4,280 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while rushing for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Purdy hasn’t been as sharp in the playoffs though as he has completed 61.4% of his passes for 519 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Christian McCaffrey has been one of the best players in the NFL this season and has played a pivotal role in the success the 49ers had offensively rushing for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 67 receptions for 564 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season and has continued that success in the playoffs rushing for 188 yards and four touchdowns while adding 11 receptions for 72 yards.
Defensively, the 49ers were the 3
rd
best scoring defense in the league allowing an average of 18.42 points per game. The San Francisco 49ers will look to continue their offensive success when they face one of the top-scoring defenses in the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs, in Super Bowl LVIII.
The Chiefs weren’t as explosive this season offensively as we are used to seeing as they were barely an above-average scoring offense averaging 22.05 points per game which is above the league average of 21.89 points per game. Kansas City Chiefs are averaging 23.33 points per game and Patrick Mahomes has looked a lot better in the playoffs than he did during the regular season as he completed 67.2% of his passes for 4,183 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions during the regular season while completing 68% of his passes for 718 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions during the playoffs this season. However, the defense of Kansas City has been one of the best defenses in the NFL this season as they allowed the 2
nd
fewest points per game during the regular season with an average of 16.75 points per game while allowing the 4
th
fewest total yards per game with an average of 294.7 total yards per game. The defense for the Kansas City Chiefs will look to continue their stellar play when they face an explosive offense in the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday evening.
BookMaker
has the over/under listed at 47.5 points in Super Bowl LVIII when the San Francisco 49ers face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. The over has hit in five of the last nine with the teams combining for an average of 46.12 points per game and two of the previous three games in the series with the teams combining for an average of 61 points per game in those matchups.
Super Bowl LVIII features two of the best scoring defenses in the NFL this season as the Chiefs allowed the 2
nd
fewest points per game with an average of 16.75 points per game while the 49ers allowed the 3
rd
fewest with an average of 18.42 points per game. I look for the San Francisco 49ers to attempt to control the clock in this matchup with Christian McCaffrey and to rely on one of the best defenses when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII which is why I am buying the .5 point and taking the under 48 points on Sunday evening.
Spooky Express Pick: Under 48 Points
